Abstract
Methods and compositions are provided for reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in individuals who are at elevated cardiovascular risk, including individuals who have systemic lupus erythematosus. The methods comprise administering a combination of: a cholesterol-lowering agent, such as an HMG CoA reductase inhibitor; an inhibitor of the renin-angiotensin system, such as an ACE inhibitor; aspirin; and optionally one or more of vitamin B , vitamin B , and folic acid. Pharmaceutical formulations combining all the active agents in unit-dose form for once-daily dosing are provided.
