Abstract
An annular member is fitted to the outer periphery of the stator cores in a rotating electric machine. The rotating electric machine has a cooling passage in an axial direction between a resin molded section and adjacent stator cores The annular member is formed from a material which has a larger coefficient of linear expansion than the magnetic material comprising the stator cores. At low temperatures, stress resulting from the differential between the coefficient of linear expansion of the stator core and the resin molded section is reduced because an inward compressive force is applied to the stator core by the annular member as a result of the difference in the coefficient of linear expansion.
