Abstract
A method is disclosed in which the plates of an electrode are connected to a terminal of a storage cell by clamping the plates between the terminal and a holding member such as a ring or a washer and then welding the plates to the terminal by transparent laser welding through the holding member. The plates are preferably bent over a face of the terminal before they are clamped. A tool presses on an area of the washer to clamp the plates The washer and the plates are then transparent laser welded to the terminal along a weld line around the area on which the washer bears. A storage cell that can be obtained by the above method is also disclosed.
