Abstract

An injection syringe having a body ( ) bearing an injection needle ( ), a reservoir ( ) containing a liquid ( ) to be injected and being movable relative to the body ( ) for causing the liquid to be injected to circulate through the needle ( ), and a needle shield ( ) movably mounted relative to the needle ( ) for movement, under the control of a spring ( ), from a retracted position towards an active protective position. The syringe has complementary parts ( ) which, when engaged, retain a first spring ( ) end cooperating with the shield ( ), and which, when disengaged by further movement of the reservoir ( ), release the spring ( ) first end to displace the shield ( ) to its active protective position. The second spring ( ) end is pressed against the reservoir ( ) for gradually compressing the spring ( ) during injection.
