Abstract

An imaging system ( ) that includes a passive millimeter-wave camera ( )employing a focal plane array ( ) of millimeter-wave integrated circuitry receivers ( ). The camera ( ) images a scene ( ) that may include one or more beacons ( ). The beacons ( ) transmit millimeter-wave radiation signals ( ) that are modulated by a modulator ( ) so that the beacons ( ) can be distinguished, and possibly provide communications in addition to beacon location. The receivers ( ) in the camera ( ) employ a demodulator ( ) to demodulate the detected millimeter-wave signals from the scene ( ). Therefore, not only does the camera ( ) image the beacons ( ) in the scene ( ), but also can separate and decipher communications signals from the beacons ( ).
