Abstract
Molding apparatus ( ) is provided which allows use of a particulate non-liquid molding material ( ) to produce a variety of articles, such as frustoconical barrel segments ( ). The apparatus ( ) includes a female mold segment ( ) including generally annular inner and outer sidewalls ( ) and a complemental male mold section ( ) having an annular sidewall unit ( ). In use, a molding material ( ) is placed between the sidewalls ( ) and the section ( ) is shifted so that it telescopes within the section ( ); this compresses the material ( ) to a desired final shape, which is then hardened to yield the final product ( ). An optional wear insert ( ) can be used with female mold section ( ), which can be replaced as needed and assists in cleaning of the apparatus ( ).
