Abstract

A collector is provided which is capable of simultaneously capturing and collecting particulate and gaseous chlorinated organic compounds contained in a fluid. The collector includes a housing and a captor disposed within the housing . The captor includes a tubular porous core member of a sintered glass having one end closed with a close member , and a gas-permeable sheet fitted around the core member . The gas-permeable sheet is, for example, a paper-like sheet having a fibrous activated carbon and inorganic fibers. The particulate and gaseous chlorinated organic compounds contained in a gas sample flowing into the captor through a sampling tube are simultaneously collected and removed from the gas sample by the core member and the gas-permeable sheet , and the gas sample free from the chlorinated organic compounds is then discharged from an outlet port
