Abstract

A metal-can label is bonded to a metal can by heating. The label has a thermally stable transparent label substrate; and adhesive layer composed of a thermosetting resin; and either a printer layer or a deposited metal layer or both. These layers are formed between the transparent label layer and the adhesive layer. The label has, at its edge, a clear portion having a predetermined width in which the transparent label substrate and the adhesive layer are laminated without the interposition of either the print layer or the deposited metal layer. A can having rolled top covering the clear portion of the label is described.
