Abstract
A belt is rotated in the direction indicated by the arrow (F) by a motor to cause first and second feed roller pairs to feed a stimulable phosphor sheet in the direction indicated by the arrow (X ). Before the stimulable phosphor sheet is scanned by a light beam, the belt is rotated a predetermined length in the direction indicated by the arrow (E) by the motor. Thereafter, the belt is rotated to cause the first and second feed roller pairs to feed the stimulable phosphor sheet in the auxiliary scanning direction indicated by the arrow (X ). When the stimulable phosphor sheet is scanned by a light beam, the belt is stably held in a desired position on the driven pulley, but is not slid sideways, allowing the stimulable phosphor sheet to be fed highly accurately in the auxiliary scanning direction.
