Abstract

A wavelength demultiplexer is provided whose overall length in a first propagation direction is short, whose production efficiency is high, and whose emission loss is smaller than that of conventional configurations. At the first end face V , the first boundary line F is closer to the second edge H than the first edge H by the distance “b” (b>0). At the first end face V , the second boundary line F is closer to the first edge H than the second edge H by the distance “b”. At the third end face V , the fourth boundary line F is closer to the fourth edge H than the third edge H by the distance “a” (a>0). At the fourth end face V , the sixth boundary line F is closer to the third edge H than the fourth edge H by the distance “a”.
