Abstract

An improved sealing arrangement is provided for a replaceable cylinder liner The sealing arrangement includes a seal in the form of a band that is positioned in an annular groove under a flange seat of the cylinder liner The annular groove includes a first and a second undercut that provides a relief area for the seal to deflect into lessening the opportunity of damage to the seal The first and second undercuts also relieve stress in the axial direction improving the fatigue life of the cylinder liner
