Abstract

A radio communication device has a first variable power amplifier and a second variable power amplifier and performs gain control of the variable power amplifiers and by a variable power amplifier control section for controlling transmission power of the radio communication device. At this time, the variable power amplifiers and are switched on and off under the control of a switch control section in response to the theoretical value of transmission power updated based on the transmission power of the radio communication device detected by a transmission power detection section or a transmission power control bit extracted by a base band signal processing section for prolonging the time period over which the variable power amplifier or is off.
