Abstract

When transmitting encoded video data and audio data, a transmitter also transmits a decoding method generated by decoding-method generation means In the case of a receiver , decoding control means controls decoding means in accordance with a received decoding method and thereby, decodes video data and audio data . Thus, it is unnecessary for the receiver to previously prepare all of a plurality of decoding methods and the transmitter does not need to encode video data or audio data in accordance with the decoding method owned by the receiver
