Abstract
The apparatus ( ) for treating exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine includes a storing catalyzer for absorbing NO during lean operating conditions and a device for burning fuel ( ) in an exhaust gas stream ( ) to produce a reducing atmosphere in the exhaust gas for storing catalyst regeneration and an aerodynamic control device for controlling the burning of the fuel in the exhaust gas stream, so that combustion is clearly improved when the engine is operated under lean operating conditions and no carbon is formed.
