Abstract
A control unit suppresses fluctuation in speed of a motor in a printer. The control unit has a speed detecting part for detecting the speed of the motor in a predetermined period t , and an average speed calculating part for calculating an average speed based on a current speed detected by the speed detecting part, and on a speed which has been detected n (n≧2) periods t before, nt corresponding to substantially half period of the fluctuation in speed of the motor. The control unit also has a speed control part for controlling the speed of the motor based on a deviation of the average speed from a target speed of the motor.
