Abstract
An IrDA modulation/demodulation integrated circuit device designed for use in a portable telephone receives a clock used in a base-band integrated circuit device for processing a base-band signal, and converts the frequency of the received signal by using a PLL circuit to produce a clock. This helps reduce the number of resonators incorporated in the portable telephone, and thereby reduce the cost thereof and the area of the circuit board provided therein.
