An electrodeless discharge lamp operating apparatus includes a transparent discharge vessel ( ) in which a luminescent substance is enclosed; a coil ( ) for generating an alternating electromagnetic field that discharges the luminescent substance; a power source ( ) for supplying alternating current to the coil ( ).
