Abstract

A method for enhancing the effectiveness of post-emergent herbicides consists of the addition, to the post-emergent herbicidal composition, of an effective amount of a compound of the formula R COO X (I) wherein R is a C to C hydrocarbyl group optionally substituted with one or more hydroxyl or C -C hydrocarbyl groups, and X is ammonium. The advantages of using a compound of formula (I) with the post-emergent herbicide include a faster visual phytotoxic response, better weed control and use of less post-mergent herbicide.
