Abstract

The invention relates to a method of feeding a sheetlike material ( ) into a printer. An externally located cover sheet ( ) is removed from a pile of sheets and conveyed towards a section (a -a ) of the transport path at a transport speed (V V ). The lower limit (v ) of the transport speed is the same as or greater than the transport speed (v ) of the sheets ( ) in section (a -a ). Conveyance of the sheet ( ) is delayed until section (a -a ) has been reached. Identical predetermined spacing (AS) thus occurs between immediately successive transported sheets ( ).
