Abstract

A radio frequency (RF) coupler apparatus ( ) suited for use in a multi-band wireless communication device ( ), has a termination device ( ) and couplers ( and ). Each of the couplers ( and ) has through-path coupling elements ( and ) and coupled-path coupling elements ( and ). Through-path coupling elements ( and ) pass a RF signal that is to be transmitted respective frequency bands (TX BAND , TX BAND ) within which the device ( ) operates. Coupled-path coupling elements ( and ) couple the RF signals passed by respective through-path coupling elements ( and ). The coupled-path coupling elements ( and ) and the termination device ( ) are coupled in series, thereby permitting compatibilty with a RF power detector ( ) that uses a single detection diode ( ).
