Abstract

A method for separating hemoglobin A from a hemoglobin mixture according to a cation exchange liquid chromatography characterized that at least two types of eluents are used including an eluent (hereinafter referred to as “eluent A”) for elution of faster hemoglobins than hemoglobin A and an eluent (hereinafter referred to as “eluent B”) for elution of hemoglobin A and slower hemoglobins than hemoglobin A , and that the eluent A has a pH of 4.0-6.0 and the eluent B is maintained at a pH of at least 0.5 higher than that of the eluent A.
