Abstract

A disk brake and brake pad set that includes a brake disk ( ) and two brake pads ( ) wherein each brake pad ( ) has a carrier plate ( ) and a friction lining layer ( ) arranged on the carrier plate ( ). Each friction lining layer ( ) has a central area ( ) of identical layer thickness,an area ( ) of reduced layer thickness at at least one end of the brake pad ( ),and a separating line ( ) that defines an edge between the central area ( ) and the at least one area ( ) of reduced layer thickness. When the two brake pads ( ) are arranged opposite each other on either side of the brake disk ( ) the areas ( ) of reduced layer thickness of the friction lining layers ( ) are tangential to the brake disk ( ) and the areas ( ) of reduced layer thickness of the friction lining layers ( ) and the separating lines ( ) are arranged asymmetrically relative to each other.
