Abstract
A sliding rail anchor fall arrest system ( ) includes an anchor assembly ( ), a safety hook ( ), a safety harness ( ) worn by a worker and a flexible lanyard ( ) extending between the hook ( ) and the harness ( ). The sliding rail anchor assembly ( ) includes a pair of anchor members ( ) that cooperate to slidably engage a crown ( ) of a rail ( ) or other elongate member being used as an anchor point for fall arrest purposes. Each anchor subassembly ( and ) includes a rail engaging portion ( and ) and a connector portion ( and ). When the rail engaging portions ( and ) are positioned around the crown ( ), a cavity is formed to envelope the crown ( ) thereby allowing longitudinal movement along the rail ( ) but little to no movement transversely along the rail ( ) by the anchor assembly ( ). The connector portions ( and ) are configured and arranged to mate with one another, and to accommodate a hook ( ) that is received by at least one connector portion ( and ) thereby locking the anchor members ( ) securely together.
