Abstract
A frame ( ) for a vehicle seat is intended to be deformed, in part elastically and in part plastically, under the influence of forces, for example, in connection with a collision. The frame ( ) is made from a metallic, hardened material. The frame absorbs energy during the plastic deformation by having at least one deformation zone ( ) that has been imparted a reduced resistance via tempering of a portion of the metallic, hardened material.
