Abstract
A concrete saw ( ) includes a cutting assembly having a high compression diesel motor ( ) mounted on a carriage ( ) in turn slideably mounted in a frame ( ) in turn pivotally mounted to parallel rails ( ) of a chassis ( ) moveably supported on the concrete surface by wheels ( ). Concrete slurry hardened on two pairs of UHMW slides ( ) provided between the sliding surfaces of the carriage ( ) and the frame ( ) will break away and fall from the slides ( ) when the belt tension is adjusted. A guard ( ) prevents entry of concrete slurry to the belt drive and includes a housing ( ) having a U-shaped wall ( ) which closely conforms to the bottom periphery of the sheave ( ) of the belt drive. An operator platform including a seat ( ), a footrest ( ) and an armrest ( ) mounted to a mount ( ) is mounted by elastomer cushions ( ) to a seat base ( ) extending outward of the rails ( ) of the chassis ( ) so that the operator is located generally aligned with the saw blade ( ) and is free of obstruction up to an extension ( ) of the chassis ( ).
