Abstract
An edge banding apparatus ( ) for adhesively securing banding material ( ) to an edge of a board ( ). The apparatus ( ) includes a board support structure ( ) formed to support a board ( ) in a near vertical orientation with the edge ( ) to be banded in a downwardly facing orientation. An adhesive applying assembly ( ) is positioned relative to the board support structure ( ) and is formed to apply adhesive ( ) to the downwardly facing edge ( ) during relative motion between the board ( ) and the adhesive applying assembly ( ). The apparatus ( ) includes a banding material applying assembly ( ) positioned downstream of the adhesive applying assembly ( ) and formed to apply a banding material ( ) to the edge after the adhesive ( ) is applied and a cutoff assembly ( ) which cuts off the banding material ( ) as the banded board ( ) passes the cutoff device ( ). Pneumatic adhesive level sensing assembly ( ) and a pneumatic adhesive refilling assembly are both disclosed, as is a method of edge banding a board ( ).
