Abstract
A water heater having a water tight tank ( ) with a cold water inlet ( ) and a hot water outlet ( ). First and second heating elements ( ) are mounted in the upper and lower portions of the tank ( ). A controller is provided for energizing element ( ) to heat water in the upper portion of tank ( ) until the temperature of the water in the upper portion of tank ( ) reaches a preset temperature, at which time, the element ( ) will be de-energized. The controller is adapted to energize element ( ) when element ( ) is de-energized. The controller is further adapted to de-energize element ( ) and at the same time energize element ( ) when the temperature of the water in the lower portion of the tank reaches a preset temperature.
