Abstract
A method of monitoring carriers in a multi-carrier communication system ( ) enables unused carriers to periodically transmit data during real-time operation so that the carrier characteristics such as Signal-to-Noise Ratio values and equalizers may be updated regularly. Based on the updated information, bit swapping, dynamic rate adaption, and other features may be readily implemented.
