Abstract

In an image forming apparatus, attachment/detachment guide pins ( and ) are disposed on a side face of a belt cartridge ( ). Attachment/detachment guide grooves ( , and ) which guide the attachment/detachment guide pins ( and ) are disposed in a frame ( ) of a main unit of an image forming apparatus. A belt tension applying mechanism including a tension link ( ) and a spring ( ) is disposed on the side of the apparatus main unit. When the belt cartridge ( ) is to be attached to the apparatus main unit, the cartridge is attached along the attachment/detachment guide grooves ( and ), so that the rotation shaft of a tension roller ( ) is easily and surely engaged with the belt tension applying mechanism ( and ).
