Abstract
The invention relates to the cloning and sequencing of the DNA encoding a membrane associated proteolipid from that is capable of inducing in vitro calcium binding. A proteolipid was extracted from cultures of and separated into a lipid component and three apoproteins having molecular weights of approximately 5.0, 5.5 and 7.5 kDa as determined by SDS-PAGE. The invention also includes the polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies directed against the membrane associated proteolipid and immunological assays developed with these antibodies.
