Abstract
An apparatus ( ) and method for adjusting an actuator ( ) on a real-time basis includes a rack ( ) extending axially over at least a portion on an outer surface of an adjustable member ( ). The actuator ( ) has a bore ( ) that extends from the rack ( ) to the outer surface ( ) of the actuator ( ) to receive an adjustment member ( ). The adjustment member ( ) includes a pinion ( ) at one end for engaging the rack ( ) while the adjustment member ( ) is situated out of the functional flow or positioning area. Engagement of the pinion ( ) of the adjustment member ( ) with the rack ( ) on the adjustable member ( ) provides a real-time adjustment of the actuator ( ) to a desired position or setting which then may be fixed or locked into that position.
