Abstract

Vinylic polymer compositions having a weight average molecular weight in the range of about 4,000 to about 12,000 are produced by reacting, in an addition polymerization reaction, a fatty acid rosin mixture and a monomer mixture at a temperature in the range of about 135° C. to about 175° C. These compositions exhibit properties that make them useful as support resins for ink and overprint formulations and as additives for formulating various coating compositions.
