Abstract
An electrically operated throttle valve assembly having a throttle shaft with a portion extending exteriorly of the throttle body . Rotor is mounted on the extending portion of shaft . A housing concentrically surrounds the rotor and includes a rear wall to which stator is attached. The stator having a plurality of circumferentially spaced pole segments each with a coil is mounted to the rear wall and is concentrically disposed within the rotor . The hollow cylindrical rotor with plural magnets disposed about the inner periphery has a radial web flange which is drivingly attached to one end of the extending portion of shaft with the rotor nested over the stator pole segments. Reducing the size or even eliminating the mounting shaft or bolt , and preferably replacing it with a welded, wound and overmolded stack of laminations provides more winding area for electrically conductive coils to provide more magnetic flux.
