Abstract
The present invention provides TUP1 polynucleotides, including TUP1 polynucleotides encoding Tup1, and Tup1 polypeptides, from . Disruption of TUP1 function in is associated with filamentous formation as well as low infectivity. These TUP1 polynucleotide and Tup1 polypeptide sequences (and anti-Tup1 antibodies derived from Tup1 polypeptides) may be used in methods of detecting sequences in a biological sample. Further, the invention provides methods for screening agents which may control virulence and compositions comprising these agents. The invention also provides methods of obtaining gene(s) and/or gene product(s) which are involved in a TUP1 pathway, as well as methods of controlling virulence by comprising TUP1 function.
