Abstract
A device steers a conveyor belt ( ) and centers the same relative to the intended path of travel of the belt. A belt position detector ( ) determines whether the conveyor belt has strayed from its intended path. A belt support roller ( ) which is adapted to engage and roll against the belt and which is pivotable relative to the belt returns the conveyor belt to its intended path. The belt position detector ( ) and the belt support roller ( ) are arranged on a roller cradle ( ) which is connected to a frame ( ) by means of inclined links ( ) for pivoting and setting the belt support roller ( ) in a pivoting position.
