Abstract
A wire for use in thermal spraying, the wire having sheath material—e.g. zinc, zinc alloy, aluminum and/or aluminum alloy, and core material, e.g. copper and/or copper alloy. A method for thermal spraying, the method including spraying a coating onto an object (e.g. but not limited to a vessel's hull with a thermal spray system, the thermal spray system using such wire or powder to produce the coating, the wire or powder including first material acting as a cathode and second material acting as a biocide for marine growth.
