Abstract
Aqueous solutions of polycationic polymers (P ) containing quaternary ammonium groups in salt form as heteroatomic chain members or ring members of the polymer, wherein a part of the counter-ions to the quaternary cationic groups are anionic groups of anionic optical brighteners, containing at least one anionic group, are valuable multi-functional agents in papermaking.
