Abstract
An underhood air cleaner ( ) for a vehicle ( ) has an inlet shroud seal ( ) self-mounted to the filter housing ( ) at the filter inlet ( ) and engaging the hood ( ) at the exit opening ( ) of the hood air channel ( ). The self-mounting is accomplished without extra parts or fasteners such as bolts and clamps. Both axial ( ) and radial ( ) retention is provided for the shroud seal ( ) on the filter housing ( ), as well as reduced inflow restriction.
