Abstract

A pressure pump delivers a high viscosity fluid ( B) such as grease from a storage can or drum ( A) sealed by a follower plate unit ( ) attached to a hollow transfer tube ( ). The unit ( ) can be air operated to reciprocate up and down relative to the storage can. The unit ( ) has a body ( ) fitting into the can with fluid guide passage ( ) fitted inside a reciprocating cylinder ( ) attached by a ring plate ( ). An upper plate ( ) is attached to the cylinder ( ) and a lower plate ( ) is attached to body ( ) with a ring sealing member ( ) interposed between the plates ( ). An annular pressure chamber ( ) between body ( ) and cylinder ( ) has a compressed air inlet/outlet port ( ) to provide the required reciprocating movement. The seal member ( ) can act as a bellows to maintain a seal as the cylinder reciprocates vertically.
