Abstract
Seal ( ) is formed in two halves ( A, B) mated along a transverse centerplane ( ). Each half faces outward from an associated side of centerplane ( ) and includes centrally apertured ( ) metal body ( A, B). Each body has an outwardly projecting hub ( A, B) having an outward-facing engagement surface ( A, B). A web ( A, B) extends radially outward from the hub ( A, B) to a perimeter and has interior and exterior surfaces. Bodies ( A, B) are secured to each other by an annular weld ( ) to form a seal body. A longitudinal separation between the engagement surfaces ( A, B) is compressible via flexing of webs ( A, B) from relaxed separation to a range of compressed separations. In the compressed separation, the surfaces are sealingly engaged to respective ones of the first ( A, B) and second ( A, B) conduits. On each side of seal ( ) there may be two polymeric sealing rings A, B) and an annular retainer ( A, B). Caps ( A, B) having an inboard portion covering a portion of the outboard sealing ring. At least one annular collar ( A, B) depends from cap ( A, B).
