Abstract

A male housing ( ) has a receptacle ( ) that surrounds a tower ( ) provided with cavities ( ). A retainer ( ) is mounted on the front of the tower ( ). The bottom surface of the retainer ( ) has a longitudinal groove ( ) with a catch surface ( ), and a jig insertion groove ( ) is formed in a bulging portion ( ) at the bottom end of the rear surface of the retainer ( ). An upwardly sloped guide surface ( ) is formed in the bottom surface of the receptacle ( ) and aligns with the jig insertion groove ( ). A jig ( ) having a hook ( ) at one end is provided to detach the retainer ( ). The hook ( ) of the jig ( ) is inserted through the jig insertion groove ( ) and moves up along the guide surface ( ) to enter the longitudinal groove ( ) and face the catch surface ( ). The jig ( ) then is pulled back to detach the retainer ( ).
