Abstract
An optical interconnection apparatus ( ) comprises a two-dimensional flexible base film ( ), a plurality of optical fibers ( ) with end portion for optical connection (e.g., optical connectors), and a protective resin layer ( ) of plastic material filled inside edge-dam ( ) formed along or in the vicinity of the peripheral edges of the base film ( ). The base film ( ) has an opening, in which the protective resin layer ( ) covers the optical fibers ( ) to fix them. A plurality of such apparatus ( ) can be stacked to form a laminate. Since the base film ( ) has the opening where the optical fibers ( ) are routed intricately, the optical interconnection apparatus ( ) has improved flexibility and can be used in a narrow space.
