Abstract
The invention concerns a spacer ( ) for a nuclear boiling water reactor. The spacer ( ) comprises a plurality of cells ( ) for holding or allowing elongated elements ( ) to pass through the cells. Between the cells ( ) there are a plurality of flow channels ( ). The spacer comprises at least a plurality of deflecting members ( ). The deflecting member comprises a vane ( ) which extends in a direction from a cell ( ) into the neighbouring flow channel ( ). The vane is inclined relative to a vertical plane ( ) and is wider in its upper part than in its lower part. The invention also concerns a fuel assembly for a nuclear boiling water reactor, comprising a deflecting member with vane of similar construction.
