Abstract

A drilling and production template for sub-sea wells comprises a plurality of individual limbs ( ) each with a central hub ( ) at one end of an arm ( ) and a drilling receptable ( ) on the other end of the arm. The hubs are of different diameters such that they fit within each other in a telescopic manner. They have cut-out ( ) accommodate the arms of the other limbs when installed. The template may be deployed onto a pre-installed foundation with the arms stacked vertically above the other, in such manner as to pass through the moonpool of a drilling vessel. The complete assemblies are installed on a mechanical running tool attached to a drilling string. After the template is disposed on the foundation, the drilling string is rotated, causing the running tool to rotate the limbs ( ) so that the hubs telescope into each other, providing a splayed multi-well drilling and production template.
