Abstract

A lubricating oil for freezers, which is made of a polyether represented by the general formula (1): R —[X—OR ] , wherein R represents an s-valent group having an aromatic nucleus, X represents a divalent group consisting of —OR — and —OR — groups (the numbers of which are q and r, respectively, on average), R represents an ethylene group which may have a methyl group or ethyl group, R represents an ethylene group having an alkoxymethyl group in which the alkoxyl group has 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, s is an integer of 1 to 6, q is 0 to 6, r is at least 0.5, and (q+r)×s is 3 to 80, and which has a high compatibility with HFC refrigerant, a high stability to the hydrolisis and a high volume resistivity.
