Abstract

An optical disk drive comprises a spindle motor ( ) and an optical pickup ( ) provided with an objective lens ( ) for focusing a light beam on an optical recording disk ( ) held on a disk table which is driven for rotation by the spindle motor ( ). The spindle motor ( ) is disposed with its center axis (P ) of vibration inclined at an angle (&Dgr;&thgr;) to a reference scanning line (P ) intersecting the center axis of the spindle motor ( ) and the optical axis of the objective lens ( ). Since the center axis (P ) of vibration is inclined at an angle (&Dgr;&thgr;) to the reference scanning line (P ), the adverse effect of the resonant vibrations of the spindle motor ( ) on the operation of the optical disk drive for focusing a light beam on the optical recording disk ( ) and positioning the objective lens ( ) for tracking is reduced.
