An extreme pressure industrial gear lubricant having enhanced oxidative and thermal stability, lower pour point, and higher viscosity index relative to petroleum-based lubricants is comprised of a poly-&agr;-olefin, a polyol ester, a polybutene oligomer, an antioxidant, and an extreme pressure additive.
