Abstract
Specific aromatic compounds having an extended planar &pgr; system are useful as spectral sensitizing dye stain reducing agents in photographic processing compositions and methods for providing color or black-and-white images in various photographic silver halide materials. These compounds are devoid of diaminostilbene fragments or fused triazole nuclei. They are particularly useful in fixing and bleaching compositions in the processing of color photographic silver halide materials, but can also be used in various other processing compositions.
