Abstract

A light receiving/emitting element module is provided by the invention, in which a light receiving/emitting element of a face light receiving/emitting type can be easily aligned and fixed with precision, and whose cost is low. At element loading surface ( ) side of element loading substrate ( ) onto which face light emitting laser array ( ) is loaded, substrate side fitting parts ( ) are provided, and ferrule side fitting parts ( ) are provided in ferrule ( ). Element loading surface ( ) of element loading substrate ( ) and connection end face ( ) of ferrule ( ) are disposed opposite each other, common micro balls ( ) are fitted in the substrate side fitting parts ( ) and ferrule side fitting parts ( ) opposite each other to fix ferrule ( ) and element loading substrate ( ). Thereby, the optical axis of face light emitting laser array ( ) and the optical axes of optical fibers ( ) inserted and fixed in optical fiber insertion holes ( ) in ferrule ( ) are precisely aligned, and face light emitting laser array ( ) and optical fibers ( ) are optically connected to each other.
