Abstract
Trialkoxysilanes are prepared by reacting silicon metal with an alcohol in an inert solvent in the presence of a copper catalyst by a process in which the copper catalyst contains copper(II) oxide having a BET surface area of ≧10 m /g. Furthermore, this copper catalyst is used for the preparation of trialkoxysilanes by reacting silicon metal with an alcohol.
